YVSF Recovered a Firearm in Roxbury

At about 11:47 AM, on Monday, June 24, 2024, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Edward De Los Santos-Naveo, 29, of Boston, on firearm and drug charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of 610 Shawmut Avenue when they observed a motor vehicle operating in reverse on a one-way street. Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with the operator who attempted to exit the vehicle. Officers requested the operator remain in the vehicle, which he complied but kept the door open with one leg outside.

Officers requested the operator’s identification and registration to the vehicle which he stated that it was not his vehicle. The operator stated to officers that his driver’s license was in his other car, and that this particular vehicle was a rental.

After further investigation, officers requested the operator to exit the vehicle to conduct a pat frisk. Officers located a firearm inside the vehicle, which was later determined to be a Glock 43, with nine rounds in the magazine. The firearm was also determined to be stolen out of Maine. Officers also recovered twenty-nine bags of marijuana, and approximately $780 in US currency.

De Los Santos-Naveo was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property under $1,200, and Armed Career Criminal Level Two. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
