At about 2:55 PM, on Monday, June 24, 2024, members of the Drug Control Unit of District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Arn Jones, 46, of Hyde Park, on firearm and drug charges.
Officers were conducting an ongoing drug investigation and execution of a search warrant on a seized motor vehicle. As a result of the search warrant, officers recovered twelve grams of cocaine, eight glass jars of marijuana, four plastic bags of marijuana, a Glock firearm with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.
Officers recovered two large capacity magazines (banana clips) loaded with twenty-eight rounds, and thirty-one rounds. Also recovered was a magazine with eight rounds of ammunition, a magazine with twenty-two rounds of ammunition, a box of forty rounds of ammunition, and a plastic bag containing twenty-two rounds of ammunition.
A firearm holster, handcuffs holster, a large knife, two laser sights, and $275 in US currency were also recovered during the search warrant.
As officers were conducting the search warrant, they were advised that the suspect arrived at District B-2 to retrieve his motor vehicle. Officers advised the suspect of their findings of the search warrant and was placed into handcuffs.
Jones was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Three Counts of Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Four Counts of Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the prior incident are as follows: At about 2:53 PM, on Saturday, June 22, 2024, members of the Drug Control Unit of District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Arn Jones, 46, of Hyde Park, on drug charges.
Officers were in the area of Gerard Street and Island Street to address ongoing community complaints of illegal drug activity. Officers observed a large group huddled around two individuals who were seated in wheelchairs.
Officers observed a male individual approach one of the males in the wheelchair, and handed him money. Officers observed a hand-to-hand exchange and believed that a street level drug transaction had transpired.
Officers observed one of the suspects walking from the area, and conducted a subject stop. After further investigation, officers recovered eight plastic bags of cocaine. Officers advised the suspect that he would be summonsed to court for Possession of class B.
Officers approached the man in the wheelchair that he was placed under arrest for distribution of class B. The suspect stood up and officers began to conduct a search. Officers recovered thirty-eight plastic bags of crack cocaine, three plastic bags of Fentanyl, and marijuana packaged for resale. Officers additionally seized approximately $233 in US currency.
Jones was placed under arrest and charged with Distribution of Class B, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A, B, and D. He was arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
Detectives were able to track the suspect before the incident to a motor vehicle, which was then seized pending the issuance of a search warrant.
