At about 4:45 PM, on Monday, June 24, 2024, officers assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park) arrested Davon Thomas, 18, of South Boston, on firearm charges, and two juvenile males on vandalism charges.

Officers responded to the area of 40 Greenwood Avenue for a report of a person with a gun. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of a group of three males with firearms. Officers were advised that a victim’s motor vehicle tires were slashed by two of the individuals, and the third individual motioned that he had a firearm.

Officers observed the group walking in the area, and saw one male run into the backyard of a home. Officers were able to stop the two other suspects who were crossing the street. Officers conducted a search of the third suspect and located him in a side yard of 60 Westminster Street.

As officers searched the flight path of the suspect who ran, they recovered a black backpack with various marijuana packages, a scale, and vape pens. Officers requested a K-9 to respond to the scene to assist with the search. A discarded firearm was located in the area of 24 Greenwood Avenue. The firearm was later determined to have one round in the chamber and sixteen rounds in the magazine.
