At about 11:36 AM, on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, E-18 Detectives and Officers were investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 148 Central Avenue, Hyde Park. Officers spoke with the victim and witnesses who stated that he was robbed of his moped scooter by several male suspects after one of the suspects brandished a firearm. The victim stated that males approached him on two moped scooters and rode away with his scooter and the two others they came with. A neighborhood canvas by Detectives produced evidence showing five suspects involved with the robbery.
As Detectives and Officers continued to search the area for suspects and witnesses, they broadcasted each suspect’s description on the radio to inform other members of law enforcement. After hearing the descriptions broadcasted, an Officer assigned to the BPD School Unit informed E-18 Officers that suspects matching the descriptions provided were involved in an assault that took place only a few miles away at the Academy of the Pacific Rim School, located at 1 Westinghouse Plaza, Hyde Park. Members of the Boston School Police Unit were able to discover a last known address of one of the suspects involved and Officers responded to that area.
Based on the intel provided by the BPD School Unit, Officers and Detectives moved their search to the area between Garfield Ave. and Washington St. where they located several of the suspects. Detectives approached several of the suspects and a foot chase ensued, however, with the assistance of multiple officers in District 18, Four of the suspects were taken into custody and two stolen moped scooters were recovered. One moped scooter was returned to its rightful owner and the second was logged into custody at District E-18.
Sincere Hector Lyons, 18, of Dedham, MA was arrested and is expected to be arraigned at West Roxbury District Court for the charges of Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Motorized Scooter).
Three juveniles were also arrested and are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court for the on multiple charges of Delinquency to wit Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Motorized Scooter). One Juvenile was also issued a Mass Uniform Citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License.
