In Memoriam: The Boston Police Department Mourns The Passing Of Active Duty Officer Bernard Doyle

In Memoriam: The Department mourns the recent passing of active duty Boston Police Officer Bernard Doyle, on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Officer Doyle was a second generation Officer, appointed to the Boston Police Department on November 30, 1987 as a Boston Police Cadet. He served as a Cadet until his appointment to the Police Academy as a Recruit on September 8, 1993. After graduating from the Police Academy, he served as a Probationary Officer assigned to District B-3, serving the Mattapan and Dorchester communities and remained assigned to District B-3 as a Permanent Police Officer for eight years. In 2002 Officer Doyle was assigned to District E-18, serving the Hyde Park and Roslindale communities.

Officer Doyle received numerous commendations for his dedicated service during his career. The commendations were both internal and external, including two as a Police Cadet, one for assisting with the arrest of a bank robbery suspect, being commended by the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force and another as a Police Officer apprehending violent wanted suspects. All commented on his professionalism and dedication to duty.

Officer Doyle was highly regarded by those he worked with, his supervisors and all who knew him, both within the Department and by those he served. As you go about your duties please keep Officer Doyle and his family in your thoughts.
