At approximately 2:37 AM on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, officers from District D-4 arrested Michael Vega, 41, of Boston at the intersection of Boylston Street and Ring Rd. While on active patrol in the Back Bay area, prompted by a spate of recent break-ins and thefts from both commercial establishments and residential properties, led them to observe Vega loitering within the vestibule of the Prudential Mall garage. Familiar with the Prudential Security’s stringent policy against trespassing, officers approached Vega and upon investigation discovered he was subject to a felony warrant issued by the Brookline District Court for offenses including larceny from a building and attempted larceny. Additionally, Vega matched the description of an individual featured in a recent Bric BOLO flyer, suspected of involvement in burglaries and package thefts, further raising suspicion. Vega, dressed in a black beanie hat, dark gray jacket with a gray hoodie underneath, blue pants, gray sneakers, and carrying a black satchel bag, bore a striking resemblance to the individual depicted in the BOLO flyer.
The arrest underscores law enforcement’s vigilance in combating criminal activities plaguing the community and serves as a reminder of the importance of collaborative efforts between police and security agencies in maintaining public safety and apprehending perpetrators.
