D-14 Drug Control Unit recover Firearm and Drugs following a brief struggle in Brighton

On Friday January 12, 2024 Members of the District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) Drug Control Unit arrested Phillip Williams, 39, of Brighton on firearm and drug related charges.

Officers were on on active patrol surveilling the area due to several quality of life complaints regarding drugs, the officers observed the suspect and a second party walking in a hurried manner. The officers observed the parties jump a fence leading to the rear of another property and the driveway where a sign was posted of no trespassing. As the suspects noticed the officers they began to hurry their pace and where stopped by officers.

Once stopped the suspect who previously was wearing a full black ski mask lowered the mask revealing his face and the officers on scene who were familiar with him were aware that he or the second suspect does not reside at the property where they were trespassing. The officers observe a bulge under the suspects jacket and while attempting to pat frisk the officers could feel the presence of what they felt to be a firearm. The suspect immediately began to resist and the officers were able to successfully place him in handcuffs. The officers recovered a loaded firearm from the suspects waist placed inside of a fanny pack and also seized approximately 13 grams of a white rock substance from the suspect. The firearm was later determined to be a Polymer 80 loaded with 10 9mm rounds of ammunition in a magazine capable of holding 34 rounds.

Williams was placed under arrest and will be charged with; Possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, Firearm violation with 2 prior Violent/Drug Crimes, Possession of Class B with intent subsequent offense, Trespassing, and resisting arrest. He’s expected to be arraigned at Brighton District Court. The officers recovered a spring loaded knife off the second suspect and he will be summoned to court for Trespassing and Possession of a dangerous weapon.
