At about 4:45 PM, on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Eric Jenkins, 23, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, on firearm related charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Tremont Street and Columbus Avenue when they observed a motor vehicle conducting an illegal U-turn. The vehicle then immediately parked in a posted “Bus Stop, No Stop, No Stand”. At this time, officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.
Officers made contact with the operator and requested his license and registration. Officers conducted a CJIS inquiry which revealed that the driver’s license was suspended. Officers requested the operator to exit the vehicle, and placed him into handcuffs. After further investigation, officers recovered a loaded firearm from inside the motor vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a CaniK METEsft equipped with a laser sight and 17 rounds in the magazine.
Jenkins was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
