Youth Violence Strike Force recover two firearms following a warrant arrest in Dorchester

Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Nashawn Pettaway, 23, of Dorchester and Isaiah Miller, 21, of Boston on firearm related charges following a traffic stop in Dorchester.

The officers were in the area of Corona St attempting to serve a warrant on the suspect due to him cutting off his ankle monitor when the suspect exited his home and entered a rideshare vehicle. The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the intersection of Corona St and Geneva Ave. The officers then issued an exit order shortly after. Upon Pettaway exiting the vehicle, officers could observe that he was sitting on top of a black semi-automatic pistol. The officers then removed all other occupants from the vehicle. Upon conducting a search following the arrest they discovered a second firearm hidden under the driver’s seat from the rear where Miller was seated. The firearm recovered from Pettaway was determined to be a 40 caliber Glock 22 Gen 3 equipped with a machine-gun-conversion-device on the rear of its slide, it was fully loaded with an extended magazine and 31 rounds of ammunition. The firearm recovered from Miller was determined to be a 9mm un-serialized privately made firearm also known as a ghost gun, loaded with 9 rounds of ammunition in the magazine capable of holding 10 rounds, and 1 round in the chamber.

Both suspects were placed under arrest; Pettaway will be charged with Possession of Machine Gun, Possession of Loaded Machine Gun, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (3rd offense), Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition (subsequent offense), along with warrants from Brookline District Court and Plymouth Superior Court. Miller was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, & Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Both suspects are expected to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court
