Officers Recovered a Loaded Firearm in Dorchester

At about 8:46 PM, on Sunday, October 15, 2023, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an on-site firearm arrest of Terrell Harris, 29, of Norwood.

Officers responded to the area of 148 Harvard Street for a report of a person with a gun. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect with a firearm. As an officer arrived on scene, he immediately observed a suspect matching the description.  

The officer attempted to speak with the suspect who refused and continued to walk away. The officer was able to stop the suspect and conduct a pat frisk which he felt the presence of a firearm. A violent struggle ensued and the suspect continued to reach for the firearm. With the assistance of responding officers, the suspect was placed into handcuffs.

Officers searched the suspect and recovered a loaded firearm from his front jacket pocket. The firearm was later determined to be a Ruger Security-9 with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine. Officers also recovered 21 plastic bags of believed to be crack cocaine, and 2 plastic bags of believed to be heroin.

Harris was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, resisting arrest, possession with intent to distribute class A and class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
