At about 5:10 PM, on Monday, October 9, 2023, an officer assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite firearm arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile male.
Officers responded to the area of 60 Southern Avenue for a shot spotter activation. Boston Police Operations broadcasted a description of the suspect, and an officer observed the suspect walking from the area.
As the officer exited his marked cruiser, the suspect began to run and a foot pursuit ensued. With the assistance of responding officers, the suspect was placed into handcuffs. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the suspect and recovered a firearm from his front pant pocket. The firearm was later determined to be a Polymer 80 with one empty casing in the chamber and three rounds in the magazine.
The 16-year-old was placed under arrest and charged with: Delinquent to wit: Unlawful possession of a firearm, Delinquent to wit: Unlawful possession of ammunition, Delinquent to wit: Unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and Delinquent to wit: Discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
