Officers Recovered 21 Grams of Fentanyl in Downtown Boston

At about 8:28 PM, on Sunday, August 6, 2023, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Stephen Thomas, 56, of Boston on drug trafficking charges.

Officers responded to the area of 7 Myrtle Street for a report of a suspect checking door handles. Officers observed the suspect and stopped him in the rear alley. Officers conducted a CJIS inquiry of the suspect which revealed that he had two active warrants. The suspect was placed into handcuffs for the warrants, and during a search incident to arrest, officers located five plastic bags containing what they believed to be Fentanyl. It was later determined the Fentanyl was approximately 21 grams.

Thomas was placed under arrest for two warrants for charges of Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime to Commit a Felony, and Receiving Stolen Property. He was additionally charged with; Trafficking of Class A, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
