Loaded Firearm Recovered After Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 5:53 PM, on Monday, July 10, 2023, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Kharone Green, 25, of Mattapan, on firearm and drug related charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of 310 Harvard Street when they observed a motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a CJIS inquiry of the motor vehicle which revealed that the vehicle’s registration was revoked.

At this time, officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. Officers made contact with both occupants and advised them that the vehicle could not be operated on a public way and would need to be towed. Officers advised the occupants to exit the vehicle, and officers conducted an inventory search.

Officers located a firearm from inside the vehicle, and immediately placed both suspects into handcuffs. The firearm was later determined to be a Jennings J-22 with one round in the chamber, and two rounds in the magazine. Officers also located multiple plastic bags of green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana.

Greene was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
