At about 12:01 AM, on Sunday, July 09, 2023, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan), responded to a 9-1-1 call for a person with a gun in the area of 550 River Street. The suspect, later identified as Shane Hampton, 31, of Randolph, walked up to the victim and pulled out a firearm, the victim was able to restrain the intoxicated suspect until police arrived.
The firearm was determined to be a 9mm Taurus G2C, loaded with twelve rounds in the magazine. There were no injuries reported. Shane Hampton was arrested and charged with; Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
