BPD in the Community: Boston Police Officers Participate in Basketball Clinic in Dorchester

Officers from the Boston Police Department participated in a free basketball clinic at Wainwright Park in Dorchester with children in grades 3rd to 8th.

The program, hosted by Shooting Touch basketball organization has a long-standing partnership with the Boston Police Department. The officers and children participated in a friendly scrimmage, enjoyed some refreshing ice cream and completed the day with discussions about being a female officer in a male dominate field.  Each officer shared a bit about their lives, growing up, and why they chose to become police officers.

All those in attendance left knowing that there are officers in the community that believe in them, represent them, and are here to encourage them that you can achieve your goals through hard work and dedication. The youth had a great time with officers, who many of them have come to know over the years during Women in Blue partnership programs.
