Officers Arrest Suspect in Possession of a Loaded Firearm

At about 12:30 AM, on Sunday, July 2, 2023, officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain), made an onsite firearm arrest of Joseph Remedor, 25, of Boston, while in the area of Canterbury Street and Walk Hill Street.

Officers were responding to a call of numerous vehicles and scooters congregating, playing loud music that was disturbing nearby residents. Officers heard a crash and observed a motor vehicle hit a Massachusetts State Police vehicle before coming to a stop after crashing into a structure belonging to the Cemetery.

The suspect, later identified as Joseph Remedor, was observed reaching into his waistband area and  tossing an object into the cemetery. The object was located and determined to be a Polymer80 firearm, loaded with seventeen rounds in the magazine. The trooper’s cruiser sustained substantial front-end damage which will be further investigated by the Massachusetts State Police.

Joseph Remedor was arrested and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Large Capacity, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Resisting Arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
