Suspect Arrested with a Loaded Firearm in Dorchester

At about 10:43 PM, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site firearm arrest of Amir Massey, 30, of Dorchester, in the area of 16 Angell Street.

Officers were responding to a shot spotter activation in the area of 381 Centre Street, and later determined a person was shot in the area. Officers observed a motor vehicle fleeing from the scene at a high rate of speed and then fail to stop for a red light.

Officers immediately activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect fled from officers and was eventually placed into handcuffs. Officers located a firearm that was discarded from the suspect.

The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 43 with one round in the chamber and one round in the magazine. Officers also located multiple bags of what they believed was Heroin and Crack Cocaine from inside the suspect’s motor vehicle.

Massey was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Class B, and multiple motor vehicle law violations. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
