Last night around 6:12PM, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the 725 Morrissey Blvd. / National Wholesale Liquidators for a larceny in progress.
On arrival, officers spoke to Loss Prevention investigators who reported that an employee of the store had attempted to sell them a rug at a discounted price in exchange for money. Officers learned that the investigators had become suspicious of the employee’s activities and so posed as customers to determine what the employee was doing. The investigators yesterday approached the employee in an attempt to purchase a rug valued at $499 when the suspect employee changed the price on the rug to $299.00 and offered it to them at that price. After changing the price on the rug, the investigators paid $299.00 for the rug and were assisted in bringing the rug outside by the suspect employee who then received a sum of money from the investigators in exchange for changing the price.
The investigators then identified themselves to the suspect and with the assistance of officers arrested the suspect, Amos Reed, 52 of Dorchester and charged him with Shoplifting and Larceny over $200.
