Two Suspects Arrested after Botched Armed Robbery Attempt

Around 10:15PM last night, Sunday, July 2, 2011, officers from District C-6 (south Boston) responded to 35 Farragut Rd. /Ocean Star Seafood for an armed robbery in progress.
On arrival, officers spoke to a victim/witness#2 who stated that he was sitting in his office and looked up and observed that the victim #1, his brother was being grabbed by two suspects and pushed back in the store from the sidewalk. Victim #1 stated that as he was on the sidewalk, the two suspects, one brandishing a handgun and the other a tazer/stun gun, grabbed him and started taking money from his pocket. Victim #2, reported to officers, fearing for victim #1’s life and safety because both suspects were armed fired several shots at the suspects hitting one in the hand at which point they released victim #1 and fled in a waiting Honda van.

A description of the suspects, their van and direction of flight was broadcast and a short while later, an off-duty State Police Trooper observed and stopped a van traveling at a high rate of speed on East Broadway. The off duty trooper stopped the van, and at the traffic stop observed one of the passengers bleeding heavily from his hand and a gun on the floor of the van. The trooper immediately requested assistance and numerous units responded to the scene and detained both occupants of the van after securing the firearm.

The victims were then transported to the scene and positively identified both suspects. Suspects, Justin Forde, 25 of Mattapan and James W. Michael, 27 of Roxbury were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery. Suspect James was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his hand where he was treated and released.
