Off-Duty Boston Police Officer Arrests Armed Robber in Dedham

At about 8:35pm, on Monday, June 27, 2011, members of the Dedham Police Department responded to a call for an armed robbery at the Tedeschi\’s Market in the area of 77 Cedar Street in Dedham. While en route to the call, Dedham officers learned that an off-duty oston Police Officer had called in the incident. Dedham officers further learned that the off-duty Boston officer was on scene and had the suspect in custody. On arrival, Dedham officers spoke to the off-duty Boston officer who stated that he had just exited the store and was in the process of leaving the area when he observed the suspect approaching the store. 
According to the off-duty Boston officer, he became suspicious because the suspect approached the store wearing gloves and a hooded sweatshirt pulled down over his face. Seeing this, the off-duty officer called Dedham Police and then entered the store. Upon entering the store, the off-duty officer observed the suspect behind the register. In addition to an undisclosed amount of cash, the off-duty officer promptly noted that the suspect was holding a knife. Seeing the knife, the off-duty officer drew his firearm and ordered the suspect to drop the weapon. At this time, Dedham officers entered the store and took the suspect into custody. 

According to the store clerk, the suspect entered the store, walked around the counter, showed the knife and demanded money. 

Dedham officers arrested Sean Ryan- Fallon, 23, of Boston and charged him with Armed Robbery.
