Boston Police and Local Youth Team Up on the Basketball Court!
WHO: Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis, Officers from District E-13, B-2, B-3, Youth Violence Strike Force, Boston Fire Department, Massachusetts Probation Department, EMS and youth from Jamaica Plain
WHAT: Under the leadership of Mayor Thomas Menino, Boston Police officers continue to engage local youth as part of ongoing efforts to enhance positive relationships. The basketball tournament will include games and prizes for local youth and an opportunity to meet local officers and other public safety representatives.
WHERE: Bromley-Heath basketball courts on Columbus and Heath (outside Jackson T Station) in Jamaica Plain
WHEN: Saturday June 25, 2011 from 10am-4pm
WHY: The Boston Police Department is dedicated to community policing. The department strives everyday to strengthen ties and build community trust with the residents whom we serve. The department recognizes the significance of cultivating police relations with local teens and fostering a good rapport so that youth and police can work together to improve safety and reduce crime in all Boston neighborhoods. This event is just one of the many examples of how the BPD is connecting with local members of the community and demonstrating our commitment to community policing.
