‘Bonnie and Clyde’ Is No Match for Officers and Good Samaritans!

On Tuesday June 21, 2011 at approximately 1:18pm officers responded to a call for armed robbery at 444 W. 4th Street in South Boston. A victim stated that while she was walking on Dorchester Ave an unknown male had attempted to snatch her gold chains. The victim struggled with the suspect and was able to retain the necklaces although they were now broken and a pendant had fallen into the street.
A witness began to chase the suspect and summonsed another witness on a bicycle to join in the pursuit. As both witnesses pursued the suspect, he jumped into a white Oldsmobile with a tan colored top at W. 4th and F Street.  The vehicle was being driven by a female and witnesses overheard the suspect yelling to the female ‘Go go go!”, “take a right!”. A witness yelled to the suspect to stop when the suspect turned and produced a knife, which he held up as a threat to the witness.

The suspect and vehicle description were broadcast over the police radio. Shortly thereafter, officers spotted the Oldsmobile now being driven by the male suspect behind the Andrew Square MBTA Station. Officers stopped the vehicle and the male and female occupants were taken into custody. The male suspect was positively identified by witnesses as the individual responsible for the earlier robbery attempt.

Officers placed 28 year old Edward Pyne of Boston under arrest and charged him with Armed Robbery and Possession of Class B. Officers also arrested Andrea Freitas, 31, of Plymouth and charged her with Armed Robbery.
