Threatening to do Harm with a Fake Firearm Lands Two Behind Bars

At about 10:46pm, on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area of Commonwealth & Harvard Aves. On arrival, officers located the victim who stated that he was arguing with two individuals in a motor vehicle. During the course of the verbal argument, the victim states that the individual sitting in the front passenger seat produced a firearm, pointed it at him and stated, “\”Next time. Bang. You’re dead.” According to the victim, the two suspects then drove away in a silver-colored BMW down Harvard Ave. In short time, officers located and stopped the car. When asked if there were any weapons in the motor vehicle, the operator stated, “No. You can check if you like.” A search of the car enabled officers to see and take possession of a black firearm found under the front passenger seat. Upon further inspection, it was determined that the black firearm was, in fact, a replica style BB gun.
The victim was able to positively identify the passenger as the one who threatened him with the firearm. The victim further states he was definitely in fear for his life and, at the time, believed the firearm was a real one.

Officers arrested Aram Barseghyam, 28, of Brighton and Aleksandr Yeghiyan, 22, of Watertown and charged both with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
