Runaway Car Derailed and Suspect Arrested

Last night around 8:33PM, officers from District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to the intersection of Canterbury St. and Cummins Hwy. for a motor vehicle accident.
On arrival, officers located and spoke to one of the three parties that were in the car accident and witnesses, and found out that the car that caused the accident had fled the scene. Officers however did get the registration plate for the suspect car and a description of two black males who were in the car. While still on scene at the accident, the second victim to the accident walked into District E-18 and reported that the suspect vehicle had just pulled into a gas station on Hyde Park Avenue.

Officers immediately responded to the gas station and en route observed the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Westminster and Lewiston Streets. Officer activated their lights and sirens in an effort to conduct a traffic stop but the operator exited and fled the car. Officers pursued the suspect, caught and placed him under arrest after a brief foot chase. Once place under arrest, officers recovered 7 small bags of crack cocaine on the suspect.

The suspect, Kevin L. Wilson, 31 of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Personal Injury, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Property Damage, Possession with intent to Distribute Class B Drugs, Failure to Stop for Police Officers and a host of other motor vehicle infractions.
