In the course of their investigation, members of the District A-1 DCU received information that an individual named “Butter” was selling drugs in the downtown area. Officers were able to get a phone number for this individual and contacted him about buying some crack cocaine. Several conversations were had with the suspect Butter/McClain about buying drugs and a meeting occurred during which the suspect failed to bring drugs but met with an undercover (UC).

Yesterday, officers called and made arrangements to meet up with the suspect in order to purchase crack cocaine from the suspect. After some planning a UC met with the suspect and purchased $80 worth of crack cocaine from suspect McClain who was accompanied by suspect Stewart. Once the UC exited the car after an exchange of crack for cash, other officers followed the suspects in order to stop their car and arrest the suspect. After following the suspect for some time, officers approached their car, identified their office and attempted to stop the car. The suspect failed to stop but rather accelerated his car striking an unmarked cruiser in front of him in an effort to escape. The suspect traveled a short distance before he became stuck in traffic and was placed under arrest.

The suspect will be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court today, May 17, 2011.
