STALLED WHILE STEALING MOTORCYCLE

Around 6:28 AM, April 14, 2011, officers responded to a radio call for a crime in progress at Englewood Avenue & Chestnut Hill Avenue in Brighton (District D14). A concerned neighbor called police and said that two hispanic males were trying to steal a motorcycle. Officers then responded to 53 Strathmore Road on a report that a red motorcycle was in the middle of the street. Officers then spoke to the witness who stated that two hispanic males appeared to be trying to steal it and when it wouldn’t start they dropped it and ran in the rear yard of 53 Strathmore Road. Officers located one of the suspects at the rear of Englewood Avenue and he was taken into custody. The Suspect was taken back to the scene and was positively identified by the witnesses as being one of the two individuals trying to steal the motorcycle. Luis Alvarez, 20, of Revere, was arrested for auto theft.
