May 15th is \’Peace Officers Memorial Day\’- BPD will fly the American Flag at half-staff to honor those killed or disabled in the line of duty

On October 1, 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day in honor of those Federal, State and Municipal Police Officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty.
On Sunday, May 15, 2011, the American Flag will be flown at half-staff on all police buildings to honor and remember the Boston Police Officers and all other police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  On this day, all Department Members are asked to reflect and honor the memory of all of our officers who have given their lives while protecting others.
