Around 3:29PM yesterday, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested suspect, Joshua Deburgo, 18 of Dorchester and charged him with Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Officers were on patrol in the Codman Square when they observed the car being operated by the suspect had no inspection sticker. Officers noted that the suspect upon observing them through his rear view mirror extended his body across the center console and reached toward the glove compartment of his car after which time he returned to an upright position and traveled through an intersection. Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Talbot Ave. and Centre Street after the suspect proceeded through the next intersection. There, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car and noted that the suspect was very nervous with hands trembling uncontrollably. In addition to the smell and suspect’s nervous behavior, officers noted several pieces of small plastic used for drug packaging.
The suspect was asked to exit the car and a pat frisk conducted at which point officers found a plastic bag containing marijuana. Officers then conducted a further search for contraband in the suspect’s car at which point they found a loaded revolver in the glove compartment of the car.
The suspect, at that point, was arrested and charged with the above offenses.
