Suspect Left Behind …by His “Friends”

Early this morning around 5:13AM, officers from C-6 (South Boston) were on patrol in the 1,000 block of Massachusetts Ave. when they a gold or brown Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in front of 1033 Massachusetts Avenue/Liquor Land.  As officers proceeded past the liquor store, they noticed that the front glass door of the store was shattered.
Officers, aware of the fact that the store had been broken into several times, reversed direction to go investigate and as they did so, they observed three black males wearing black hooded sweatshirts exit the front door carrying a number of items in hand. Officers broadcast what they were observing to Operations and nearby units and as they neared the front of the store observed two of the three suspects jump into the waiting car while the third was still trailing behind.  The vehicle took off leaving the third suspect behind, and officers observed him drop several bottles of liquor during the process of trying to get in the car.

Officers were able to apprehend and place the trailing suspect, John Baptista, 39 of Roxbury under arrest and charged him with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime.

A search of the area for the remaining suspects and their car was unsuccessful.
