Early this morning around 12:23AM, officers from District A-7 (east Boston) responded to a radio call for a male slumped over the wheel of his car with the engine running and the car in gear.
On arrival, officers observed Boston Fire already on scene and a black GMC Denali in the middle of East Eagle Street. Officers walked up to the car and attempted to awake the suspects unsuccessfully. After numerous failed attempts to awaken the suspect, Boston firefighters were able to open the rear driver side door, place the car in park and turn off the engine. The suspect was awakened after a while and he at that time had no idea where he was. He had a strong odor of alcohol about him, and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot. The suspect was taken out of the car and he was very unsteady on his feet and had to be held up by EMS and firefighters. The suspect was asked how much he had to drink but and he answered yes but only two.
The suspect refused to take any sobriety tests and he consequently was placed under arrest after officers determined that his ability to safely operate his car had been substantially compromised due to his consumption of alcohol. The suspect, Marvin E. Miranda, 34 of East Boston was arrested and charged with Operating under the Influence of Alcohol.
