At about 8:16pm, on Monday, January 17, 2011, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at the CVS Pharmacy at 587 Boylston Street. While en route to the call, responding officers learned, via the police dispatcher, that the suspect was described as a white male wearing a green, Boston Celtics hooded sweatshirt and carrying a black backpack. According to store employees, the suspect entered the store, motioned as if he was in possession of a weapon and demanded money. According to store employees, the suspect stated, “Put the money in the bag before things get ugly.” The suspect, after receiving an undisclosed amount of money, fled the store on foot with the money received in a plastic CVS bag.
A search of the area enabled officers to locate an individual who fit the description of the suspect. As officers approached, the suspect took off on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to take the suspect into custody.
After reviewing the store’s in house surveillance video, officers were able to confirm the identity of the suspect. Additionally, store employees were also able to confirm the identity of the suspect. A search of the suspect enabled officers to recover a plastic CVS bag containing an the monies taken from the store.
Officers arrested Collin Wallace, 21, of Boston and charged him with Armed Robbery and Resisting Arrest.
