At about 12:37pm, on Monday, January 3, 2011, members of the Boston Police Bomb Squad responded to 560 Huntington Ave (Boston Fire House: Engine 22/ Ladder 17) for a report of a live hand grenade. On arrival, members of the Bomb Squad spoke with Fire Department personnel who stated that an unknown male brought the explosive device to the fire house. After closely inspecting the device, members of the Bomb Squad removed the device from the fire house and transported it to a safe location (the Boston Police Range) where the device was detonated and properly disposed of. The device was later determined to be a foreign mortar round.
