At about 10:00am, on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) were on patrol in the area of 460 Meridian Street in East Boston when officers were approached by a victim who stated that he had been threatened by his neighbor. According to the victim, the suspect accused him of damaging his mail box. When the victim denied doing any damage to the suspect’s mail box, the victim says the suspect entered his home, grabbed a bat, exited his home and then threatened the victim. Specifically, the victim says the suspect stated, “I’ll kill you.” 

Officers approached the suspect and asked if owned a bat. To which, the suspect replied, “Yes.” The victim was able to describe the bat to the officers. 

Officers arrested Rick Matranga, 48, of East Boston and charged him with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (bat).
