Incident Description:
About 11:51pm on Monday, August 30, 2010, officers responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at 50 Dalton St. While enroute, officers were updated by a Detail Officer that two male suspects had approached two victims, displayed a knife and robbed victim #1 of her purse. The suspects then fled on foot towards Boylston St.
On arrival, officers spoke with both victims as well as the two witnesses. Victim #1 stated that she and victim #2 were walking on Dalton St nearing Scotia St when two unknown white male suspects approached them from behind. Suspect #1 (white male, 5\’10-6\’, medium build, wearing a dark colored shirt) put a knife to the back of victim #2 and stated \”Empty your pockets\”. Victim #1 threw her purse and ran down Scotia St. Victim# 2 stated that suspect #2 (white male, about 5\’7\”-5\’9\”, dark hair, wearing a dark baseball cap) picked up the purse and both suspects fled on foot towards Boylston St.
Inside the victim\’s black purse were a number of items including identification. Officers then spoke to the witnesses who stated that they were walking behind the victims on Dalton St and observed the suspects walk up behind the victims and put a knife one victim. When the witnesses observed the suspects flee towards Boylston St, they followed them while calling 911. The witnesses stated that they then observed the suspects enter a red sedan and flee inbound on Boylston St. Witness #2 stated that suspect #1 (the s/p with the knife) entered the driver\’s side of the vehicle. A search of the area was made for the suspects/suspect vehicle to no avail. A broadcast was made to surrounding local and State Police
At approximately 3:00am on August 31, 2010, as the result of an earlier armed robbery, and subsequent follow-up investigation after witness accounts and information, detectives generated a photo array containing a photo of the suspect (the owner of the getaway m/v) and seven misc photos. Detectives met with the 2 victims and 2 witnesses and again interviewed them, at which time detectives showed a witness the photo array (in accordance with Department procedure) and at that time the witness picked out and identified the suspect as the driver of the car.
At that time, a broadcast of the suspect motor vehicle was again given out and seconds later the area D-4 dispatcher notified the detectives, that the suspect m/v was located in Dedham. A short time later the State Police, Dedham Police along with Area D-4 Units located and arrested the owner/suspect on probable cause for the armed robbery and transported back to Area D-4. The investigation is ongoing.
