Recently there has been an increase in residential burglaries in the Eagle Hill neighborhood. Items such as laptops, iPods, cell phones, jewelry and cash, as well as other items of value, have been stolen from apartments and single-and two-family houses. The area impacted most is the Eagle Hill community. These breaks are occurring mainly during the daytime when residents are away at work or school. Many times the entry point is through an open or unlocked window in the rear or side alley of a building, as well as unlocked doors to apartments. To avoid being victimized, please take the following precautions to secure your property and possessions. Always call 911 immediately when a suspicious person is on your or your neighbors property, and make note of the physical description and direction of flight of the perpetrator.
-Lock all doors and windows when leaving for the day -Install security bars on your windows, especially near fire-escape access -If away for the night or weekend, leave a light on -Leave radio turned on when away -Do not buzz unknown people into apartment buildings -Report all broken locks and windows to management or landlord immediately -Do not make duplicate keys for your friends -Call 911 immediately if you suspect an intruder has entered an apartment or house and give an accurate description to responding officers -Register your electronic devices and computers online with the Boston Police www.Trace.Com, where you can search for your stolen items online and register your property for easier recovery if they are stolen and a more likely arrest of the thief.
