Yesterday afternoon around 2:30PM, suspect, Thomas A. McCann, 26, of Hingham was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and battery in relation to an assault that took place on that same day at 11 Pleasantdale Road in West Roxbury around 3:40AM.
Officers responded to Pleasantdale Road in West Roxbury for an assault and battery in progress around 3:40AM. On arrival, officers observed a male victim lying at the end of the driveway with a large laceration over his eye and large gash to the back of his head. The victim was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital by EMS with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Officers spoke to witnesses who reported that the suspect came to the party uninvited with a couple of friends and a family member. During the course of the party, it was reported that a family member of the suspect got into a verbal argument and the argument traveled outside. The suspect interjected himself into the argument and at some point struck the victim with a tire iron over the head and assaulted him. According to witnesses, the suspect then fled the scene in a car.
The suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon in Hingham based on probable cause.
