POLICE ARREST FOUR FOR LARCENY FROM A PERSON 

At about 2:13am, on Saturday, May 22, 2010, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) were on patrol in the area of 230 Tremont Street when they observed a disturbance involving five individuals circling around one individual. As a result, officers approached the scene and quickly separated the parties. According to the individual who was being surrounded (herein referred to as the victim), she was sitting in her parked car with the windows open when a group of females came walking by. According to the victim, one of the individuals reached into her car and stole her wallet which was sitting on the passenger seat. As a result, the victim quickly exited her car in an effort to retrieve her property. When she exited her car and confronted the group, the victim says members of the group began kicking and punching her.     

Officers arrested Jan Braggs, 20, of Boston, Rachel Green, 20, of Boston, Shakeem Davis, 18, of Boston and Raquel Lamons, 20, of Boston and charged all four with Larceny from a Person and Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (foot). 

DRIVING WITH DEPLOYED AIR BAGS USUALLY NOT A GOOD SIGN

At about 3:08am, on Saturday, May 22, 2010, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury)  were on patrol in the area of Brookford and Dacia Streets when they observed a motor vehicle travelling at slow rate of speed with its car alarm sounding and air bags deployed. Officers also noted that the car had what appeared to be heavy front end damage. Officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & siren) in an effort to stop the car. In short time, the car stopped opposite 97 Howard Ave. 

As officers exited their department cruiser, the operator exited his car in an effort to walk away from the scene. Upon speaking to the suspect, officers promptly noted that the operator appeared to be under the influence of alcohol given the fact that he was unsteady on his feet, slurring his words and had a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his person. When asked if he had been drinking, the suspect stated, “I had one drink.” When asked to explain the damage to his car, the operator stated, “I was in an accident but the other guy didn’t want to exchange papers.” 

Officers arrested Jermaine McNeil, 31, of Boston and charged him with Operating Under the Influence (alcohol), Leaving the Scene Property Damage and Failure to Stop for Police Officer. 

TOUR BUS AND BICYCLE MEET IN MINOR MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT           

At about 3:50pm, on Sunday, May 23, 2010, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist and a tour bus in the area of 99 Newbury Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the bicyclist who stated that she was riding her bicycle in the far right travel lane adjacent to vehicles parked along the right side of Newbury Street when a tour bus, traveling outbound in the same direction, changed lanes and, in doing so, came into contact with her and her bicycle. As a result of the contact, the handle bar on the bicycle broke the window of a parked car. The bicyclist, suffering from minor injuries, was transported to the Boston Medical Center for evaluation purposes.
