PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY GLOBE TRUCK
At about 6:18am, on Thursday on May 6, 2010, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a pedestrian struck by a Boston Globe delivery truck in the area of 1156 Blue Hill Ave. On arrival, officers observed a green-colored Boston Globe delivery truck stopped at the curb. Further, officers observed a black male lying on the ground behind the truck. Officers spoke to the operator of the truck who stated that he had just made a delivery and was in the process of backing his truck up when the pedestrian was struck. According to the operator, he never saw the pedestrian. Officers spoke to the pedestrian who stated he stepped behind the truck to cross the street. According to the pedestrian, he thought the operator was going to pull forward after he got in his truck but he didn’t. The pedestrian, complaining of lower back pain, was transported to the Carney Hospital.
TAG!!! YOU’RE UNDER ARREST
At about 2:25am, on Thursday, May 6, 2010, officers from Area D-4 (South End) observed a male acting suspiciously in the area of 120 Ipswwich Street. Given several recent reports detailing graffiti issues in the area, officers approached the individual in order to furher undertand his rational for being in the area. As officers approached, officers observed the individual make what looked to be an effort to alert two other males who were standing in the rear of 120 Ipswich Street. Officers further observed that the other two individuals appeared to be in the act of spray painting some design or a tag of some kind on the surface of the building. When the suspects observed the approaching officers, the suspects took off on foot. As officers were running behind the suspects, officers observed the suspects toss or discard what looked like cans of spray paint. Officers were able to see and seize two cans of spray paint. Upon returning to the original scene, officers were able to observe and take note of two freshly painted tags.
Officers Ryan Kelly, 22, of Boston and Ryan Stiffler, 19, of Boston arrested and charged both with Graffiti Vandalism
