BOSTON POLICE TO RECOGNIZE 3RD GRADE STUDENT FOR COMING TO THE AID OF A KINDERGARTEN STUDENT IN NEED OF HELP

WHO:             Boston Police officers from District C-6 and students from the Tynan Elementary School

WHAT:          At about 3:00pm, on Monday, March 29, 2010, a kindergarten student from the Tynan Elementary School in South Boston got lost after dismissal. A 3rd grader on his way home noted that the kindergarten student appeared to be out of sorts or in need of help. As a result, the 3rd grader approached the student and asked if everything was okay. When he learned that the kindergarten student was lost, the 3rd grader stayed and remained with the student until he was able to wave down a police cruiser that was patrolling the area.

At 10:00am, on Friday, April 9, 2010, officers from the Boston Police Department will be honoring Richard (pronounced Rah-shard) Scott, the 3rd grader, for his kindness, compassion and willingness to step up in a time of need. Not only did Richard see a fellow student in need of help, but he also knew enough to stop and stay with his fellow student until help arrived.
