CHECKING OUT WITH ANOTHER’S BAG LANDS ONE SUPERMARKET THIEF BEHIND BARS
At about noon, on Sunday, March 7, 2010, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a Larceny in progress in the area of 692 Washington Street (C-Mart Supermarket).On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she was inside the supermarket shopping. While shopping, the victim says she placed her yellow pocketbook inside her shopping carriage. In the process of checking out, the victim says an individual (described as a black male in his 30’s, slim build, 6\’0” in height, scruffy beard, black hat) walked up to the carriage, reached inside and swiped her pocketbook. Victim reports that the following items were inside her pocketbook: one cell phone, several credit/debit cards, an undisclosed amount of money, personal papers and household keys). Victim says the suspect then fled the store on foot.
While on scene, detectives were able to review and secure a visual image of the suspect from the supermarket’s in-store surveillance video. Upon returning to the station, officers were able to identify the suspect. Once identified, an arrest warrant was issued in the name of the suspect.
Approximately, three days later, officer observed and located the suspect wanted in connection with the above larceny. On Wednesday, March 10, 2010, officers approached and arrested Darryl Noles, 45, of Boston and charged him with Larceny.
