Man Pulled From Water After Boat OverturnsOn Sunday, September 13, 2009, at approximately 6:02pm, Boston Police Officers assigned to the Harbor Patrol Unit, responded to the aid of an individual struggling in the water after falling out of his inflatable row boat.
Officers located the individual in the reserve channel past the Peninsula Yacht Club. The Boston Fire Department as well as Boston EMS was already on-scene attempting to throw the male a life line in order to pull him to shore. The man was safely brought to shore and evaluated by Boston EMS. He was later released unharmed.
Officers learned that the 61 year-old man was attempting to row out to his 18 foot Dory which was filled with rain water with the intention of bailing it out. While doing so, the boat capsized and the man fell into the water. He was unable to get into his inflatable row boat so he was forced to swim to shore.
