IDENTIFICATION WANTEDBoston Police Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Larceny Suspect
Boston Police are releasing surveillance images of an individual who may be involved in recent incidents involving larceny from motor vehicles at several area hospitals. Detectives are hoping community members will come forward with information about the individual pictured. Investigators are making every effort to identify and locate this person.
Incident Description:
On Thursday, September 3, 2009, at approximately 5:15pm, Boston Police Officers assigned out of Area B-2 (Roxbury), responded to the Children’s Hospital parking garage (1 Blackfan Circle) for a report of a breaking & entering into a motor vehicle.
Officers arrived on-scene and spoke with the vehicle’s owner who stated that her car had been broken into while she was in the hospital. The victim informed officers that two laptop computers were stolen as a result of the break in. She described one of the computers to be in a pink carrying case and the other to be in a black and orange carrying case. Officers observed the back window of her vehicle to be smashed and it was determined to be the point of entry.
Boston police officers consulted with hospital officers and learned that the general area was monitored by surveillance cameras. A search of the security cameras data base produced the image of a black male, wearing a New England Patriots hat, dark blue Adidas jacket with white stripes, blue jeans and black sneakers carrying a pink laptop bag through one of the stairwells around the time of incident.

Safety Tips:
• DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR WHERE OTHERS CAN SEE THEM. Valuable items, such as your laptop, Ipod and cellular phone should never be left in the passenger’s compartment of your vehicle. Always take your property with you or move them out of sight by securing them in the trunk.
• Always lock your doors and windows. Even if your window is only slightly open, it makes your car an easier target for thieves.
• Replace your standard door lock buttons with tapered ones. Tapered door lock buttons make it more difficult for thieves to hook a wire or device onto the door lock button to pop it open.
• Invest in an anti-theft device.
• If you observe any unusual activity or observe a car theft or break-in, immediately call 911.
