YANKEES’ HAT NO REASON TO GET ARRESTEDAt about 12:47am, on Sunday, June 7, 2009, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a fight in the area of 269 Commonwealth Ave. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim, a limo driver, who stated that the altercation took place in the back of his motor vehicle. According to the driver, he immediately stopped the car and separated the combatants. One of the combatants left before police arrived, the other, however, remained on the scene and began punching the limo. In terms of damage, the driver says the suspect punched out a side rear window. Officers observed the broken window. When asked about the window, the suspect stated, “Yah. I did it.” When asked to explain how the fight began, the suspect stated it began because the other kid was wearing a New York Yankees baseball hat.
Officers arrested Pat Flynn, 21, of Boston and charged him with the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property (Over $250.00).
POLICE ARREST UNLICENSED OPERATOR IN ROXBURY
At about 3:18pm, on Sunday, June 7, 2009, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) observed a motorbike travelling at a speed greater than reasonable in the area of 1990 Columbus Avenue. While following behind the bike, officers observed the bike come into contact with the fender of parked motor vehicle. As a result of their observations, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) in an effort to stop the bike. However, instead of stopping, the operator ignored the officer’s efforts and continued driving. Upon losing sight of the bike, officers promptly broadcast a description of the bike over the police radio. In short time, officers were able to re-locate and stop the suspect in the area of Walnut Ave and Walnut Park. With the suspect stopped, a motorist approached the officers and stated that the motorbike had run into his car. Officers observed damage to the victim’s car.
When asked to produce his drivers’ license, the suspect stated, “No.” A check of the suspect’s license showed it to be suspended.
Officers arrested Ray Austin, 34, of Boston and charged him with Operating after Suspension, Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Leaving the Scene of Property Damage, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
