Man Flees Police In Stolen Motor Vehicle and Located by BPD K-9
On Thursday, June 4, 2009, at approximately 5:55pm, Officers assigned to Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain), were patrolling in the area of Minden Street when they observed a Ford Expedition operating erratically. Officers conducted an RMV check on the registration and learned it was listed as a stolen vehicle out of Belmont, Massachusetts. The officers radioed their location and requested additional units to assist. The suspect vehicle was forced to stop on Parker Street due to heavy traffic. At this time, Officers exited their cruiser and approached the suspect vehicle on foot. They identified themselves and ordered the suspect out of the car. The operator ignored their orders and proceeded around traffic and fled. Officers followed the suspect as he entered the Bromley Development. Due to the operators’ rate of speed, coupled with the dense population of the development, Officers decided to back off from pursuing the suspect for the safety of the community. A perimeter of the area was then set up.
A K-9 unit was called to the location to assist. The stolen vehicle was located abandoned on the sidewalk within the complex. Officers then located fresh footprints leading into a construction project that was previously a manufacturing company. A BPD officer and his K-9 partner “Narro” then conducted a search of the building. A knocked down door was located on the second floor and the suspect was found hiding within. The suspect was positively identified as the operator of the stolen vehicle and placed into custody.
Officers arrested Tyrone Davis, 38, of Boston on the charges of Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop for Police, Operating a M/V after License Suspension, Speeding and Breaking and Entering During the Day.
