Man Charged with Armed RobberyOn Monday, February 9, 2009, at approximately 7:53pm, Officers assigned out of Area B-2 (Roxbury), responded to the area of Townsend Street for a report of an armed robbery by means of a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the two victims and learned they were robbed of their North Face backpacks, cell phones, Charlie bus cards and money. They informed officers that they were in the area of 205 Townsend Street when they were approached by two unknown black males who stated, “Give me your money or I’ll shoot you”. The victims were then forced to remove their backpacks and empty the contents on the ground. The suspects then picked up the victim’s belongings and fled towards Warren Street.
Officers conducted a search of the area and located four black males standing at the bus stop at the intersection of Warren & Quincy Streets. Officers made note that one of the males was wearing a North Face backpack. Officers approached the group and they began to separate. The individual wearing the backpack attempted to walk away from the officers. All four parties were detained and pat frisked. Officers located numerous cellular phones and other items in their possession. The victims were able to identify this property as theirs.
Officers arrested James Exantus, 18, of Boston on the charges of Armed Robbery, Receiving Stolen Property and Larceny from a Person.
Armed Robbery Doesn’t Pay!!!
Last night around 11:34PM, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to 1154 Morrissey Blvd. in Dorchester for an armed robbery in progress. En route, officers were given a description of the suspect as a white female with brown hair, black jacket and blue jeans and told that that the suspect had used a knife in the robbery and fled in a green caravan.
On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported that the suspect, who is a frequent customer of the store/gas station initially walked in to the store, picked up two Oreo snacks and walked to the counter. The victim further explained that the suspect placed two dollars on the counter but once the clerk started ringing her items, she pulled out a knife and threatened the victim exclaiming, “Stay away from the register! I’m gonna kill you!!” The suspect then reached over the counter and took an undetermined amount of money from the cash register and fled the scene in a green minivan. Officers were further advised that the suspect had fled down a side street next to the gas station into Port Norfolk.
Other officers responding to the call were entering Port Norfolk on Teanan St. when they observed a dark colored minivan traveling a at high rate of speed almost striking the marked cruiser. Officers then turned their marked cruiser around to effect a traffic stop in order to further investigate this car due to the speed that the car was traveling and the fact that it closely resembled the described car driven by the suspect from the robbery. Officers conducted a traffic stop of the motor vehicle at 710 Morrissey Blvd. and there observed that the operator closely matched the description of the suspect. Officers asked the operator for her license and registration and she responded that she did not have either. Based on the operator’s resemblance to the suspect and her nervous behavior, officers asked for additional suspect description. Officers were then told that the suspect had a receding hairline with short brown hair matching the operator’s appearance. Officers then decided to have the victim brought to their location for a possible identification.
The victim was brought back to the scene, and as soon as the victim saw the suspect yelled out, “Yup that’s her, that’s her!” The suspect, Jennifer L. Hill, 36, of Wesley was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery of a Convenience Store, and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. During search of the suspect incident to arrest, officers recovered various denominations of US currency consistent with the money stolen from the store.
Vigilant Cops Capture Car Crook
This morning, officers from District D-4 (South End) arrested suspect, John Rogers, 42, of Marshfield and charged him with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
Around 1:32AM, officers from District D-4 (South End) were on patrol when they observed an unoccupied vehicle running with its headlights on. As officers drove by the car, they observed that there was a male seated in the back seat fumbling around. Based on the hour and the unknown activity of the male in the back seta, officers queried the car via the Mobile Data Terminal, and learned that the car had been reported stolen in Marshfield on Sunday, February 8, 2009.
Officers circled the block and pulled up behind the suspect motor vehicle, and placed the suspect under arrest for Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle. The suspect acknowledged that the car was stolen by telling officers the name of the owner and stating that she did not say that he could take the car. The suspect was subsequently charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License after arrest when officers learned that his license to drive was suspended.
