HYDRANT STEALING SUSPECT ARRESTED IN BRIGHTONAt about 6:49pm, on Monday, October 27, 2008, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for three males stealing a fire hydrant in the area of 321 Summit Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed three males in possession of the hydrant in front of 329 Summit Avenue. According to one witness, when he told the suspects he was calling the police, one of the suspects told him to, “Mind your f*%king business.” When officers arrived, officers observed the hydrant, as well as, three males who matched the description of the suspects. When officers questioned the suspects, the suspects admitted to taking the hydrant. According to the suspects, they found the hydrant lying in the middle of the sidewalk and they were simply moving it. While officers were on scene, one witness approached officers and pointed to the suspect who threatened him. When officers asked the suspect if he had threatened the witness, the suspect stated, “Yah, I threatened him! He told me he was gonna call the police.”
Officers arrested Joshua Kolinsky, 22, of Westford and charged him with the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property and Intimidating a Witness.
