B&E Suspect Arrested after Failing to Meet Probation OfficerYesterday afternoon around 1:51PM, officer from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to 76 Annunciation Rd. in Mission Hill for a group of males dressed in hooded sweatshirts breaking into a green Honda.
On arrival, observed a green Honda occupied by several males dressed in dark hooded sweatshirts attempting navigate a three-point turn. Upon observing the officers, the car reversed struck a parked car and the suspects exited the car and attempted to flee. Officers pursued the suspects and caught two of them after a brief foot pursuit.
Officers returned to the scene and observed that the car that the suspects had been driving and observed that the steering column had extensive damage. In addition, during a search incident to lawful arrest officers recovered a screwdriver from one of the suspects, a tool oftentimes used to break into cars. Two suspects, a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old male both from Roxbury were arrested and charged, the 16-year-old with Breaking and Entering, and the 14-year-old with Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle and Possession of Burglarious Tools.
At the booking desk, during a conversation with one of the suspects, he exclaimed to officers, “I was supposed to meet with my probation officer, but (expletive) it, I didn’t want to meet with no one anyways!”
Patriots Game Leads to Fight Amongst Brothers
Last night around 9:41PM, officers from District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to 1531 River St. in Hyde Park for a domestic dispute and arrested suspect, John J. Kelley, 37 of Canton and charged him with Assault and Battery.
Officers were first dispatched to the above location for and a domestic disturbance. On arrival, officers observed the suspect being restrained by several family members to keep him from attacking his brother. Officers detained the suspect and spoke to the victim and other family members. Officers learned that the suspect and victim, both Patriot fans, were watching the Patriots on Monday Night Football when an argument started over the Patriots lead in the game. The victim reported that the suspect became upset during the argument and slapped him in the face.
OUI Driver Arrested after Almost Hitting Police Cruiser
This morning around 1:19AM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested suspect, Arthur Berry, 57 of Roxbury and charged him with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Going the Wrong Way on a One Way, and Being a Fugitive from Justice.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Washington and Warren Streets when they were almost struck head on by a motor vehicle being operated on the wrong side of Washington Street. Officers immediately turned around and conducted a traffic stop in front of 2181 Washington Street. The suspect stopped his car and pulled to the curb, and before officers could approach started driving away. Officers again activated lights and sirens causing the suspect to pull over but this time made him turn off the ignition.
Officers approached the car and immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. When asked why he drove away after initially pulling over, the suspect responded that he did not know that officers were stopping him. Officers then asked the suspect where he was coming and he could not tell officers where exactly he was going. When asked if he had been drinking, the suspect stated, “I had one drink with my friend.” During conversation with the suspect, officers further noted that his eyes were glassy and bloodshot. Officers requested of the suspect his license and registration, and he had substantial difficulty producing his license and registration to the point where officers felt their safety was compromised. The suspect was removed after he kept reaching behind his seat and failed to heed officers’ orders to stop reaching behind his seat.
The suspect was removed after continuously reaching behind his seat and in order to perform sobriety tests. Upon exiting the car, the suspect told officers, “I have a bottle of vodka under my front seat, I was drinking with my girl and she told me to take it.” Officers went to the car and there found a nearly empty bottle of vodka. After finding the nearly empty bottle of vodka, the suspect failed all three of the administered sobriety tests given to him. Based on the suspect’s performance during the sobriety tests and the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that the suspect’s ability to safely operate his car was substantially diminished due to his consumption of alcohol.
