At about 3:25am, on Sunday, October 19, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in front of 24 Westland Avenue. On arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. The victim was immediately transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.According to witnesses, the victim was arguing with two white males when one of the males pulled a knife and stabbed the victim. A description of the suspects was promptly broadcast over Channel 5 of the police radio. In short time, officers located two individuals fitting the description provided by witnesses. Officers located the individuals in an apartment building at 650 Columbus Avenue. Upon locating the suspects, officers observed that one of the suspects (Suspect #1) was bleeding from his hands, while the other suspect (Suspect #2) was suffering from an apparent stab wound. Officers further noted that the Suspect #1 had cuts and lacerations to both hands.
Officers arrested Suspect #1, Zachary Winston, 19, of Roxbury and charged him with Assault & Battery By Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife). Suspect #2, who was not charged, was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
