B&E Suspects Caught in the ActAbout 10:34AM yesterday morning, officers from District D-14 (Brighton) responded to 63 Shannon in Brighton for a breaking and entering in progress.
On arrival, officers observed two males outside the above location exiting a motor vehicle parked in front of the house. Officers also made note of a plasma television set box in the back seat of the car along with a box of electronics. At this time, officers were approached by the victim who explained that he came home from school and noticed that his front door was open. The victim stated that when he entered the door, he heard some person(s) running out of the back door. The victim reported that he ran to the front of his house and there observed the two out of breath suspects, one of whom is known to him, exiting the rear of his house.
The victim stated that he confronted the two suspects and they reported that they had come by to talk to him but when they arrived they observed two black males who fled in a Jeep with the victim’s property. The victim reported that he then asked the two suspects to open the trunk of the car and they reluctantly opened it. The victim then told officers that once the suspects opened their trunk, he observed a number of his items in the trunk of their car. The victim then called officers and gave them the description of two black males that the suspects had given him so as not to alert then that he was on to their ruse.
The two suspects, Jhonathan Martins, 19, and Nathan Silva-Rosa, 19 both of Everett were arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime. After the suspects were placed under arrest, officers conducted a search of the suspects’ car and located several more of the victim’s property.
Bicycle Thieves Fail to Make Good their Escape
At approximately 7:30PM yesterday, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to 117 Park Drive in Boston for a robbery in progress. En route, officers were informed that two described males had just robbed an elderly male of his bicycle.
On arrival, officers received information that the suspects had fled on a yellow bicycle with one riding on the handlebars, and that the two were heading in the direction of Fenway Park through Clemente Park. While officers were responding to Clemente Park, they observed two young males riding on a yellow bicycle matching the suspects’ descriptions. The two suspects were stopped and detained pending an identification process by the victim.
The victim was brought to the location of the suspects and positively identified the suspects. The victim then went on to tell officers that he was sitting on a park bench with his bicycle next to him on the ground when one of the suspects approached him, grabbed his bike, and attempted to take off with his bike while being followed by the second suspect who was on another bike. The victim stated that he pursued the suspect who was running with his bike until the suspect lost his footing, and fell to the ground also dropping the victim’s bike. The victim, at this time, recovered his bike while the second suspect jumped on the handlebars with the second suspect and rode away.
The two suspects, Deandre Russ, 18, of Dorchester and a 15 year-old male juvenile from Dorchester were arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery.
Armed Suspects Names His Sentence
Last night around 9:40PM, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force in conjunction with officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) and C-11 (Dorchester) arrested suspect, Jamel A. Bannister, 17, of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
Officers were on random patrol in the area of Columbia Rd., Richfield St. and Hamilton St. in response to a call for shots fired that had been broadcast a few minutes earlier when they happened on the suspect who was walking on Columbia Rd. toward Richfield Street. Officers pulled up alongside the suspect and stated to the suspect, “…what’s going on?” The suspect immediately clutched the right side of his waist and took off running away from officers. Officers, based on the fact that a call for shots fired had been broadcast shortly before they saw the suspect, and the fact that the suspect was clutching to his waist as he ran, pursued the suspect believing him to be armed with a gun.
Officers maintained visual sight of the suspect as they pursued him and saw that he continually held on to his right side as he attempted to evade officers. Officers engaged in a lengthy foot pursuit while cars responded and finally cut off the path of the suspect of the suspect on Hamilton Street. There, officers recovered a loaded semi-automatic firearm on the suspect. Once officers had placed the suspect under arrest and recovered the gun, the suspect exclaimed to officers, “Yeah, that’s a nice one, isn’t it? I’ll do my eighteen months!”
