SUSPECT CHARGED WITH INTENT TO MURDER IS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH HAMILTON STREET SHOOTING INCIDENT At about 7:51pm, on Monday, August 18, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 123 Hamilton Street. On arrival, officers located an individual suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was promptly transported to the Brigham & Women’s Hospital where he’s recovering from his injuries. According to witnesses, the suspect approached the victim, pulled out a firearm and began shooting. Detectives from Area C-11 sought and received an arrest warrant for the suspect wanted in connection with this shooting.
Four days later, on Friday, August 22, 2008, officers and detectives from Area C-11 located the suspect named in the arrest warrant. Officers arrested Amanyeh Matra, 20, of Dorchester and charged him with Assault with Intent to Murder and the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
POLICE ARREST TWO WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH STABBING IN EAST BOSTON
At about 1:20am, on Saturday, August 23, 2008, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for persons stabbed in the area of 206 East Eagle Street in East Boston. On arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. The victims, both males, were transported to Mass General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
While officers were responding to the above incident, a motor vehicle, seen speeding along Putnam Street, was stopped a short ways from the incident. Upon stopping the motor vehicle, officers observed two individuals occupying the motor vehicle. While officers were talking to the occupants, officers discovered that one of the occupants was suffering from a stab wound. That individual, a male, was transported to the Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the occupants in the car were responsible for the stabbing at 206 East Eagle Street. Officers arrested William Mendoza, 22, of Revere and Rafael Vasquez, 28, of Chelsea and charged both with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (knife).
UNDERAGE DRINKING AND BAD BEHAVIOR LAND TWO IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 1:40am, on Saturday, August 23, 2008, officers from Area E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a call for a fight in the area of 1184 Hyde Park Avenue. On arrival, officers observed two females yelling and screaming obscenities. When officers approached the individuals and asked for identification, both suspects stated that they didn’t have any. Given the fact that both individuals appeared to be intoxicated due to their slurred speech, glassy eyes and odor of alcohol, officers asked their age and where they had been drinking. Both said they were born in 1990 (which would’ve made them 18 years-old) and had been drinking inside the Hyde Park Pub. When officers spoke to the employees at the Hyde Park Pub, the employees stated that the suspects had provided suitable identification. A License Premise Violation was issued to the establishment for serving alcohol to a minor. Prior to being transported from the scene, officers discovered marijuana on the floor of the cruiser that was being used to transport the suspects.
Officers arrested Erika McNeil, 18, of Norwood and charged her with the Possession of a Class D Drug (marijuana). Officers also arrested Michelina Mulhern, 17, of Methuen and charged her with Being Disorderly. During the booking process, suspect Mulhern struck the booking officer with an elbow. As a result, she was additionally charged with Assault & Battery on a Police Officer
